Classes Descriptions
Introducing the Sew Creative Studio!
We have a new space that will be dedicated to classes, events and retreats! The Studio is in the same building as the store, just two doors west. Retreats will be daytime only, as the Studio does not have overnight accommodations. This is a great space to get together with your friends for a fun sewing retreat, or join one of our retreats and meet some new friends.
Available for you to use in the Studio
- Plenty of work space - approximately 3000 square feet,
- Cutting tables, mats, rotary cutters,
- Assorted rulers,
- Accuquilt Go Big with an assortment of dies,
- Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, etc.,
- Coffee maker, K-cups provided (or bring your favorite),
- Ironing boards, irons and clappers.
Pricing is - $25 per day, per person. There may be other individuals/groups using the Studio.
If your group would like exclusive use of the entire Studio, the daily rental fee is $500.
We welcome all creative hobbies. The Studio would work well for knitters, scrapbookers, beaders, etc!
Beginning Garment Sewing
Basic T-Shirt
Saturday, March 14th, 9am – 5pm
Class fee - $60, pattern - $13.50
Join an experienced garment sewist to learn how to:
- trace a pattern,
- adjust a pattern for ideal fit,
- use proper stitch and stitch settings on your machine,
- construction a beautiful T-shirt!
We have samples in the store for you to try on to help determine your size. Then, during class, Penny will help you trace your pattern for an excellent fit. Pattern and supplies are available at Sew Creative.
This is a beginner-friendly class, you do not need to know garment sewing techniques or terminology. But please be familiar with your sewing machine. You must know how to thread, wind a bobbin, select stitches and change the length/width of stitches.
Beginning Sewing - Hot Pad
Monday, March 2nd
1-4pm or 5-8pm
Class fee -$20, Kit fee $5
This pot holder makes a nice gift for a friend, is beginner friendly and is a real STASH BUSTER!
Please be familiar with threading and bobbin winding on your sewing machine.
Beginning Quilting - 4 Patch Quilt
Saturday, February 14th & February 28th
10am - 4pm, class fee - $80
Learn the basics of quilting - including safe cutting habits, an accurate quarter inch seam, and more. You will piece the quilt top, quilt and bind your project!
This class is ideal for a beginning quilter, but please be familiar with threading and bobbin winder on your sewing machine.
Please feel free to bring snacks, lunch and a beverage if you wish.
Applaud Zipper Bag
Saturday, November 8th
10am – 3pm
Class completed - call to be put on the waitlist for the next session!
Bring your Baby Lock serger or serger/coverstitch machine and make this beautiful bag. You will construct the bag on your serger, including inserting the zipper. You will have the opportunity to use the Baby Lock Applaud decorative coverstitch machine to decorate your fabric!

Easy Oven Mitt
Thursday, November 20th
12:30pm - 3:30pm or 5pm - 8pm

Make an oven mitt with the help of the AccuQuilt Oven Mitt die. This is a perfect gift for the holiday season. Add a few wooden utensils or stitch a coordinating hot pad for a nice gift. After quilting the layers together, the Oven Mitt die quickly and accurately cuts the front and back pieces!

Beginning Sewing - 9 Patch Pillow
Saturday, December 6th
10am – 3pm
Class fee – $40

Learn sewing basics while constructing a pillow. Safe cutting technique, proper pressing technique, accurate seams, zipper insertion and much more! We’ll review machine and basic sewing vocabulary to help you become familiar with common terminology and phrases.
Skill level – beginner, but please be familiar with threading and bobbin winding. If you are unfamiliar with your machine, please stop by the store and we will help you with threading and bobbin winding.
Open Sew with Carla
Fridays, 10:00am - 5:00pm
Bring your sewing machine and projects! Enjoy a quiet, creative day away from distractions. You may come and go as you please during the class period. Feel free to bring a lunch, snacks, beverages, etc. Carla is an amazing teacher who can assist with garments, quilts, home dec projects. This is a single day class, but we also have multi-day retreats if you want a longer sewing time!!!

Beginning Free Motion Quilting

Thursday, February 27th, 5:30pm - 9pm
Don't be afraid to give free motion quilting a try! Mary will guide you through a number of exercises that will build your confidence in no time! We will assemble kits, so your fabric and batting will be prepared when you arrive for class.

Advanced Free Motion Quilting
Thursday, October 3rd, 5:30 – 8:30pm

If you’ve taken Mary’s Beginning Free Motion class, this is your next step. If you feel comfortable with the basics of free motion quilting, but don’t feel comfortable connecting motifs with smooth transitions, this is your class! Advanced Free Motion Quilting will guide you through additional exercises to build your confidence combining quilting motifs and selecting the best motif for an area.
Class Registration Policy - Please register at least 48 hours prior to the class date. Class fees are due at time of registration. If you've registered for a class but cannot attend, please provide 48 hours notice. Preregistration for an Open Sew session is NOT required. Open Sew is considered a "drop in" class, so you may come/go at any time during the scheduled session. For all other classes, please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time of the class so you can set-up your sewing machine, supplies, etc.
